The Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau will show its new quarters to the public next month.

"We'll hold an open house Oct. 10," said Director Mary Miller. "The new office, at 1707 Mount Auburn Road, will be open from noon to 3 p.m."

Miller announced the open house during the September meeting of the bureau's advisory board Wednesday.

"CVB officials and advisory board members will be on hand throughout the open house," said Miller. "We'll have coffee, punch and cookies, and entertainment."

Routine business was discussed during the Wednesday advisory board meeting at City Hall.

Advisory board members agreed that the recent Missouri Division of Tourism Showcase a visit to Cape Girardeau by tour operators went well.

The group of more than 50 operators toured Cape Girardeau, had dinner at the Black Forest, and attended a reception at the Victorian Inn during late August.

It was a good opportunity for area attractions operators to talk one-on-one with tour operators, said officials.

"We received good comments about our hospitality during the tour," said Miller.

Meanwhile, staff members are busy this week, preparing for the SEMO Seniors Golf Tournament, which starts today at Bent Creek and the Jaycee Municipal Golf courses.

"We'll be greeting more than 400 golfers during the tournament," said Miller. "We'll help with name tags Thursday night for their 30th anniversary banquet.

Miller said the bureau's staff was busy updating files and redesigning maps and brochures.
