The certificate resulted from a $112 contribution the pack made following the Sept. 11 attacks. The scouts raised the money by selling tickets to the Cape Girardeau Exchange Club's ham and bean dinner.

T.P.A. to host family picnic Saturday

Cape Girardeau Post M of the Travelers Protective Association, T.P.A., will hold a potluck family picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday at Shelter No. 8 in Cape County Park.

Members are invited to bring their families and anyone interested in joining. Those attending should bring a covered dish. Beverages and table service will be provided.

Civil War Round Table features SEMO historian

Dr. Joel Rhodes, assistant director of the Regional History Center at Southeast Missouri State Unviersity, will be guest speaker at the Cape Girardeau County chapter of the Civil War Round Table at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Room of the Hanover Lutheran Church.

Rhodes' topic will be "Missouri in the Era of Radical Republicanism, 1864-1872."

Perkins firefighters plan fish, chicken supper

The Perkins Volunteer Fire Department in Scott County will hold its 33rd annual fish and chicken supper from 2-7 p.m. July 27. There will be music, an auction and homemade ice cream. The auction follows the supper at 7:30 p.m.

Masonic Lodge social event set for July 23

St. Marks Chapter No. 93 Masonic Lodge will hold a chili, hot dog, and ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. on July 23.

During the regular lodge meeting at 7:30 p.m. an initiation ceremony will be held for all Master Masons who have received their third degree in the last three years.
