SIKESTON, Mo. — A man hired in June to teach in the Sikeston School District has been placed on administrative leave, pending his termination.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, the Sikeston School District Administration was notified by the Kentucky State Police that David Jordan is charged with various crimes, according to a news release from the district.

The district offered Jordan a position in June for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. At that time, he possessed a valid teaching certificate and cleared a background check, the news release stated.

“Mr. Jordan has not completed his new teacher orientation, has never taught at the Sikeston R-6 School District and has had no contact with Sikeston students,” superintendent Tom Williams said in the release.
