A woman with a head injury was reported to have assaulted a police officer Wednesday as he tried to arrest her on an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license, police said.
Police responded to a call at about 2 a.m. Wednesday at 529 Olive St., Cpl. Kevin Orr said. When officers arrived, they found Rhonda Sue Quintana, 30, of 215 Mason St. inside the house arguing with several people.
After checking Quintana's identity, police found there was a municipal warrant for her arrest.
Quintana, who had a bandage on her head, didn't want to leave with police and struck an officer with her fist and grabbed onto a door frame, Orr said.
Police had to force Quintana to the floor to take her into custody. As she struggled with police, her bandage came off and exposed an area of bleeding. She refused medical attention at that time, Orr said.
After she was taken to the police station, officers again asked Quintana if she needed a doctor. She said yes was transported to the St. Francis Medical Center where she was treated and released into police custody.
