If this weekend's craft fair at Capaha Park is a success, the Cape Girardeau Park & Recreation Department may just make it into an annual event, said Penny Wingerter, recreation coordinator with the parks department.

Wingerter said about 35 craft booths will be set up at the two-day fair, which runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

"Eventually, we hope to make it into a festival, with concessions and entertainment," Wingerter said. "It's going to be a real nice activity for Mother's Day."

Artists and crafters from throughout Missouri, Arkansas and Illinois will have items on display. Also, parks and recreations instructors will be available to supervise children while adults browse through the fair.

There is no admission charge for the fair and everyone is invited to attend.

Wingerter said the fair will be held rain or shine. "But, of course we're hoping for nice weather," she said.
