The Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District will hear arguments in eight cases, including two from the Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court, when it's in session Oct. 28 at the Southeast Missouri State University Glenn Auditorium.
The hearings at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. are open to the public and Southeast students and staff. They'll have the chance to hear arguments in criminal, juvenile, civil and divorce cases.
Six judges from the Court of Appeals will participate -- Chief Judge Roy Richter, Judge Mary K. Hoff, Sherri Sullivan, Nannette Baker, Kurt S. Odenwald and Gary M. Gaertner Jr.
"We are pleased to he able to hold another docket at the university to allow students to see first-hand an appellate court in action," Richter said. "It is important to make our court and its judges accessible to anyone interested in seeing how our state judicial system works."
According to the court's clerk, Laura Thielmeier Roy, judges plan to hold a question-and-answer session with the public after the second morning docket and once the 1:30 p.m. docket is complete.
