Cape Girardeau resident charged with robbery

Cape Girardeau resident Terry J. Roberts, 29, of 173 D St. Apt. 102, was charged on Monday with one count of robbery and one count of felonious restraint by the Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney's office. He was arrested by the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department after a brief investigation that started Sunday evening. Roberts is in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. On late Sunday evening, Roberts allegedly approached a woman and her friends at their residence at the Route W Trailer Park, according to the sheriff's department. He stated that he had car trouble and needed to use a phone. Once inside, he requested medicine for a headache, then pulled a handgun from his waistband and robbed the victims of their prescription medication. He also produced a fake badge and handcuffs, handcuffing one of the victims and getting away with a small amount of medication. No one was injured.

Fredericktown man charged with molestation

Fredericktown, Mo., resident William Carl Braddy, 41, was charged on Thursday for one count of child molestation by the Perry County Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Hoeh. He is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Braddy allegedly molested a child between the age of 6- and 8-years-old on a night in 2000 and 2001, according to the probable cause statement. The child disclosed the incident to a counselor this year. The Perryville Police Department and the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence interviewed the child on Aug. 22. Officers interviewed Braddy on Sept. 15, where he confessed to the incident and that he was possibly under the influence of narcotics.

Attempted molestation defendant pleads guilty

Marble Hill, Mo., resident Yolanda Bass, 18, pleaded guilty on Thursday to attempted child molestation charges, before Circuit Judge Benjamin Lewis. The office of the Perry County prosecutor charged her in June 2004 for molesting an 8-year-old boy while she was caring for several children at the time. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 3.
