Cape man pleads guilty to lowered crack charge
Robert L. Criddle, 21, pleaded guilty Monday in Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court to a class B felony for possession of more than two grams of cocaine base, or crack.
Criddle was arrested in March at a house on North Park in Cape Girardeau. He originally faced a class A felony for drug trafficking, which could have garnered him a life sentence in prison. The charge was amended in exchange for his plea. Criddle now faces a possible term of five to 15 years.
Judge William Syler set sentencing for Aug. 18. He denied a request by defense attorney Jennifer Booth to release Criddle from a $50,000 bond on his own recognizance until sentencing.
