Couple arrested on domestic assault charges

BENTON, Mo. -- A husband and wife were jailed Tuesday for domestic assault.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said in a news release that David L. Dean, 51, and Salina D. Dean, 47, both of Chaffee, Missouri, each were charged with third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor.

Walter said deputies responded to 9 Menz St. in Chaffee at 10:04 p.m. after a report of a domestic assault.

Deputies separated the two, and both admitted they had argued because the husband said the wife was intoxicated. Both said they were assaulted by the other, and each had apparent injuries but didn't want to pursue charges.

The release states deputies observed several items strewn on the floor and what appeared to be blood drops and smears, supporting the statements of a physical altercation in the home.
