The county had been without a planning board since 1992, when voters rejected a proposed county master plan, scrapping the 20-year-old planning commission.

The new planning commission is charged with developing a master plan for future residential and commercial growth in the county.

Any plan it develops will have to be submitted to voters for their consideration.
