The Cape Girardeau County Planning Commission will hold 10 hearings to discuss plans for countywide planning and zoning.
The issue is on the April 4 ballot. The Planning Commission developed the proposed zoning, subdivision and mobile-home-park regulations that would be implemented if voters approve the ballot measure.
Hearings will be at 7 p.m. and held in each township prior to the election, beginning Feb. 24 and running through March 16.
The schedule by township:
Byrd, Feb. 24, County Administrative Building; Whitewater, Feb. 28, Millersville Elementary School; Shawneetown, Feb. 29, Trinity Lutheran Church Meeting Hall at Shawneetown; Apple Creek, March 2, Oak Ridge High School; Liberty, March 6, Bethlehem Baptist Church at Crump; Kinder, March 7, Burfordville Baptist Church Meeting Hall; Hubble, March 9, Christ Lutheran Church Meeting Hall at Gordonville; Cape Girardeau, March 13, place to be announced; Randol, March 14, Nell Holcomb School; and Welch, March 16, Delta High School.
Roger Arnzen, director of mapping and appraisal for the county, said commissioners plan to attend a number of the hearings.
