The Cape County Republican Central Committee has announced its support of the measure known as right to work in Missouri.
The committee met July 13 for its quarterly meeting and unanimously approved a resolution of support.
Right to work would prevent employers from making union dues a condition of employment, stopping the existing ability of unions and businesses to make it a requirement if a majority of workers have voted to be in a union.
State lawmakers passed a right-to-work bill before the end of session in May. Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed the bill in June, calling it "anti-business."
The Cape County Republican Central Committee contends right to work would lead to employment growth if approved, according to a news release from the group.
"... In the interest of individual workers' freedoms, more jobs and our state's economy, the Cape County Republican Central Committee supports enactment of a Right to Work law in Missouri," the committee's resolution reads in part.
The Missouri Republican State Committee also passed a resolution supporting right to work, the news release said.
Lawmakers in support of the bill will try to override the governor's veto in September.
