Cape Girardeau County Commission minutes of Jan. 27 (all motions were passed unanimously unless otherwise noted).

* Statement of monthly collections received from county collector for December 2004.

* Erroneous assessments received from assessor.

* Cape Girardeau County juvenile department monthly car logs for December 2004.

* Letter from circuit clerk Charles Hutson to agree to reduce his 2005 budget request for mileage between courthouses for his staff from $4,000 to $2,000. Motion passed.

* Pato Colon, John Buchheit and Randy Rhodes of the juvenile division appeared to discuss the juvenile fleet. Motion made and passed to approve reduction in fleet from 12 to nine by trading in four vehicles for one new/used vehicle.

* Motion passed to approve letter from Presiding Commissioner Gerald Jones to the judicial finance commission notifying that the commission is withdrawing its request for an extension to file a petition for review with the judicial finance commission. The county commission has resolved the budgetary differences with the 32nd Judicial Circuit regarding mileage reimbursement.

* Motion passed to approve $1,903.15 bid from Stacy Carpets for new tile in the sheriff's department with partial amount to come from the sheriff's crime reduction fund.

* Request from the city of Jackson to relocate a central district parking sign from county property on Barton Street to a position across from Regions Bank on West Main Street. Request denied by the commission by lack of a motion.

* Bids were received on the upper branch of the Blue Shawnee Creek. J.W. Githens had the lowest bid of $190,832. Motion passed to refer the bids to highway administrator Scott Bechtold.

* Weldon Macke, chairman of the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission, appeared before the county commission to provide an update on state and local projects and grant actions.

* Report received from emergency management director David Hitt on body bags being pre-positioned in the county.
