County commission considers raise for assistant prosecuting attorney

Cape Girardeau County commissioners held a closed session to discuss personnel as part of their regular meeting Monday.

An undisclosed personnel issue was taken up in the meeting along with a recommendation on the annual salary for first assistant prosecuting attorney Angel Woodruff. Details of the recommendation, made by Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Limbaugh, and the result of any votes by commissioners during the meeting, will be available following the approval of closed-session minutes at a future commission meeting.

Former prosecuting attorney Morley Swingle made a request for a raise for Woodruff before he left office late last year. Commissioners decided during a recent public hearing on the 2013 budget that they would allow Limbaugh to evaluate the request and make changes as he deemed necessary.

Associate Commissioner Paul Koeper announced during open session that the county has hired Ken Eftink, a former assistant manager for the city of Cape Girardeau, to fill an open position for a floodplain manager. The position was vacated in 2012 by Stan Murray, who now works for Southeast Missouri State University. The position has time split working in the county's highway department. Eftink will be paid $25 per hour and work approximately 1,000 hours per year, according to Koeper.
