The Cape Girardeau County Commission voted Thursday to appoint Bill Berry as a new member of the Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority board.

The appointment was to replace the position held by Donna Oldham.

Berry, who has a background in finance, will serve a three-year term and will attend the next transit authority board meeting July 17.

The county commissioners voted 2-1 in favor of the appointment with Commissioner Jay Purcell voting against. Purcell said he had no objection to the appointment of Berry but was voting against the appointment because the item was not on the agenda.
