EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Officials from the Army Corps of Engineers' Memphis District will host an informational meeting Thursday in East Prairie to discuss the claims filing process for floodway residents and property owners.

According to a news release sent out Wednesday, Memphis District commander Col. Vernie Reichling and leaders from the district's real estate division and Office of Counsel will explain the process of filing claims for damage and to answer questions. The corps has initiated a process by which residents and landowners of the Birds Point-New Madrid Floodway can file claims for damage that occurred when the floodway was activated May 2.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Church of God Family Life Center, 322 N. Washington St.
