Yields of more than 250 bushels an acre netted two Southeast Missouri farmers No. 1 positions in the 1994 National Corn Growers Association National Corn Yield Growers Contest in Missouri.

The highest yield reported was by Tim and Tom Davis of Perryville. The Davises harvested 251.50 bushels an acre, good for first place in the Class AA Non-Irrigated Division of the contest in Missouri.

Paul Lampher's 250.94 bushel-per-acre yield was good for first place in the Irrigated Division of the annual contest.

Lampher of Advance and the Davises used Pioneer brand hybrids and were two of the 301 state and national titles won with Pioneer hybrids out of the total 471 awards.

The winning entry submitted by the Davises was planted April 26 in a field that was flooded in 1993. The Pioneer hybrid 3245 was planted in 30-inch rows using a Kinze 2000 planter with a planter rate of 28,600 seeds an acre.
