Cops shoot escaped slaughterhouse-bound cow

AUBURN, Maine -- Police shot and killed a slaughterhouse-bound cow that escaped from a trailer and ran into traffic. Police said they were called about 10 a.m. Monday when a cow being transported kicked open its trailer door. The cow ended up at a gas and welding-supply company.
