New Trends in Agriculture was established in 1988 when three successful one-day programs New Trends in Crop Production, sponsored by the Missouri Extension Service and the Agronomy Committee; SEMO Cattlemen's Conference, sponsored by the SEMO Cattlemen's Association and Extension; and Annual Agriculture Appreciation Day and Banquet, sponsored by the Chamber and Agri-Business Committee were combined into one big two-day event.
The agriculture extravaganza, which starts at 9 a.m. today at the Show Me Center on Southeast Missouri State University campus, will feature displays, seminars, awards ceremonies, and special events for youngsters during its two days.
The Missouri University Extension Service, SEMO Cattlemen, Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, and New Trends Agronomy Committee are still involved in the sponsorship of the event, along with Southeast Missouri State University, Cape County Pork Produces and the University of Illinois Extension, all listed as `Cooperative Effort' sponsors.
