SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract for improvements to Highway 80 in New Madrid County and Route M in Scott County. The $300,133 contract was awarded to Missouri Petroleum Products Co. of St. Louis. The project will include applying a seal coat on Highway 80 from U.S. 61 to Route B near East Prairie, Mo., and on Route M from U.S. 61 to the Chaffee, Mo., city limits. The seal coat will help extend the life of the pavement. Work could begin as early as the spring, with completion anticipated in late fall. As work is underway, one-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers and a pilot car. For more information, contact transportation project designer Tim Pickett at 573-472-6599, resident engineer Brian Holt at 573-472-5325 or MoDOT's Customer Service Center at 888-275-6636.
