Highway 177 to be down to one lane
Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced next week to one lane with a 14-foot width restriction while crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation trim trees. This section of roadway is from County Road 643 to Bertling Street. Weather permitting, the work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The work zone will be marked with signs.
Mount Auburn to be resurfaced
Mount Auburn Road will be resurfaced from William Street to Independence Street beginning Tuesday. The work will be completed in two days, weather permitting, according to the city of Cape Girardeau. Two-way traffic will be maintained; one side of Mount Auburn will be overlaid with asphalt while traffic is detoured to the other side. Drivers should consider alternate routes. The project is funded by the Transportation Trust Fund 3 sales tax approved by voters in 2005.
Shoulders repairs set for Route UU
Route UU from the county line to County Road 354 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs. Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. The work zone will be marked with signs.
Section of Themis Street to close
Themis Street will be closed to through traffic from Silver Springs Road to Pindwood Lane starting at 7 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured via Whitener Street, according to a news release from the city of Cape Girardeau. Drainage pipes beneath the street will be replaced in an effort to alleviate storm-water issues. The Themis and Whitener Drainage Improvements Project is one of several projects approved by voters as part of a sales tax in April 2008. The project should be complete in six weeks.
