Here's a look at how area members of Congress voted over the previous week.
Besides roll call votes, the Senate also took action on legislation by voice vote. The Senate also passed the Drinking Water Protection Act (H.R. 212), to monitor and prevent the risk of algal toxins in drinking water supplies; passed a bill (S. 1523), to reauthorize the National Estuary Program; and passed the U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act (S. 1297), to promote competitiveness in the U.S. commercial space industry.
There were no key votes in the House last week.
SENATE VOTES
GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD: The Senate rejected a cloture motion to end debate on a bill (S. 1881), sponsored by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa. The bill would bar any federal government funding of Planned Parenthood and its affiliated groups. The vote, on Aug. 3, was 53 yeas to 46 nays, with a three-fifths majority required to end debate.
