A conference on "Reclaiming Children and Adolescents At Risk" will be held Thursday at the Show Me Center.
The conference for parents and professionals will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The conference will consist of concurrent sessions. Three sessions will be held in the morning, followed by the same concurrent sessions in the afternoon.
"So far, mostly professionals have signed up, but there's good stuff in there for parents too," said Jim Davis of Davis Consulting Services, which specializes in marriage and family therapy, as well as working with adolescents.
Davis is also a part-time faculty member in the criminal justice department at Southeast Missouri State University.
The conference speakers will be Larry Brendtro, who is a member of the special education faculty and chairman of education at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Matthew Ferrara, a clinical psychologist who has a private practice in Austin, Texas, and does contract work in the area of adult and juvenile probation; and Cardwell Nuckols, an internationally recognized expert on drug addiction who has a consulting business in Apopka, Fla.
Registration is $65 per person in advance, $75 at the door. Lunch is included. Advance registration must be made by Monday.
