A concert band reading session, a clinic featuring new concert band literature and contest material for grades 2 to 5, will be held Saturday at Southeast Missouri State University.
All area band directors are invited to the free event, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon in Academic Auditorium. Score packets will be available for all attending directors.
Robert Gifford, coordinator of winds and percussion at Southeast and director of the university's Symphonic Wind Ensemble; and James Cochran of Shattinger Music Co. will lead the clinic.
Cochran has served as a guest clinician and adjudicator at many area clinics and festivals, and has held conducting positions at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
The clinic is sponsored by Shattinger Music Co. in cooperation with the university. Highlighting the event will be a performance by Southeast's Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
