The Compton Heights Concert Band of St. Louis will present a Sousa-style concert at 6 p.m. Sept. Sept. 6 at the Capaha Park Band Shell.
The ban, under the direction of Gregory C. Fox, will present a varied program of patriotic favorites and marches, to be concluded with a fireworks show coordinated with the playing of Tchaikowsky's "1812 Overture."
The band also will present baritone vocal soloist Robert Ellison singing selections from "Porgy and Bess," and euphonium soloist Omer Creech. Creech is a graduate of Chaffee High school who lives in Sikeston and teaches in the Jackson schools.
The concert is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Bicentennial Commission and the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts.
