Ford Motor Credit Co. announced winners of an essay and poster contest held for 11th- and 12th-grade students at Notre Dame High School and Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Ill.

Ryan Boren of Shawnee won the poster contest and Cassandra Wilson of Shawnee won the essay contest. They received $1,000 savings bonds.

The two semi-finalists were Sarah Hill of Shawnee and Emily Fisher of Notre Dame.

Theme of the contest was "Credit Drives America." Students wrote essays and designed posters on the topic "Why is good credit so important for young adults?"

The contest chairmen of Ford Motor Credit were Wayne Harding and Scott Wagner.
