Women's group publishes cookbook

The Scott County Women in Agriculture group has published a cookbook, Country Cooking, with more than 400 recipes. The recipes include appetizers, dips, bread and rolls, soups, salads, cakes and low-fat dishes.

Books are available at the Soil and Water Conservation office in Benton, Mo., and the Progressive Farm Credit office in Sikeston, Mo. Proceeds from the sale of the books will help fund Farm Day for Scott County third-grade students and a scholarship awarded to a high school graduate. Cost of the book is $10.

Harvell family reunion planned for June 15

The Harvell family reunion will be held June 15 at the Trail of Tears State Forest, State Forest Road, Shelter 2, near Jonesboro, Ill. A potluck dinner will be held at noon.

The family will help Virtus Harvell Twente celebrate her 90th birthday during the reunion. Information is available by calling Vivian Eudy at (618) 747-2810.

Charity golf tourney set at Jaycee course

The Heritage Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will sponsor its ninth annual Charity Golf Tournament and Barbecue June 14 at the Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course in Cape Girardeau.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble, with morning and afternoon tee times. The entry fee is $65 a player or $260 a team, and includes lunch, cart and greens fees.

Proceeds go to Old Town Cape and the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross. Information is available by calling Tom Higgins at 335-1456 or Dick Schaefer at 334-2258.

'Tunes at Twilight' schedule revealed

Old Town Cape has announced its "Tunes at Twilight" schedule through June.

The second of the weekly concerts will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo. This week's concert will feature a variety of artists in a songwriters' showcase.

On June 7, Broadway tunes will be performed by Earl Johnson and Fred Goodwin, with Don McNeely. On June 14, fiddler Steve Schaffner and pianist D. Irwin will perform. On June 21, the bluegrass band Coyote Creek will perform, and on June 28, the Christian contemporary group Manna of Cape Bible Chapel will perform.

Heartland Classic golf tourney to benefit MDA

The second annual KFVS12 Heartland Classic golf tournament to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be held June 21 at the Bootheel Golf Club in Sikeston.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble, with morning and afternoon tee times. Registration is $75 a person, or $300 a team, with the proceeds benefiting the Twin Rivers chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Netherlands visitors to attend reunion

The Eeftink/Eftink family reunion will be June 9 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leopold, Mo. Fran and Willemien Beusink teMolder and a son, Romuald, will attend the reunion from the Netherlands. Willemien's mother's maiden name was Eeftink.

Pig roast set June 27 will raise funds for MDA

The fourth annual Muscular Dystrophy Association pig roast will be held from 3 p.m. to closing June 27 at Diana's Lounge in Sikeston.

The cost is $3 for the all-you-can-eat meal. Drink specials, pool tournaments and door prizes will be available.

Proceeds will benefit the Twin Rivers chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
