Scott County Women in Agriculture to meet

The Scott County Women in Agriculture will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the USDA Office on Highway 77 in Benton. The program will be "Back When." All women are invited to attend. The group is for women with an interest in gardening, cooking, farming, family activities or helping the community. Benefit dinner planned for cancer patient

There will be a benefit dinner and auction held at 1 p.m. Sept. 15 at Willa's Getaway on Highway 3 in McClure, Ill. for cancer patient Carrie Hale. A fried chicken dinner with coleslaw, baked beans, bread and dessert will be served, and a 50/50 drawing and auction will be held. Zonta Club accepting nominations for award

The nomination deadline for the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau is Sept. 15. This award has been presented annually since 1987 to an outstanding woman in the community who exemplifies the Zonta ideals of dedication to career, family, self-improvement and service to the community, youth, women and church. Open beauty pageant to be held in Jonesboro

The 24th annual Little Mr. and Miss Jonesboro open beauty pageant will be held Sept. 29 at the Nettleton Performing Arts Center on Progress Street in Jonesboro, Ark. Registration for children age 5 and younger is at 9 a.m.; ages 6 to 21 is at 2:30 p.m. The pageant is open for anyone who would like to enter, except the returning queens.
