A dinner and silent auction, being held from 6:30 to midnight Friday at the Jackson Elks Lodge, will benefit the reward fund for information about Bonnie Huffman, a 20-year-old schoolteacher murdered in 1954. A benefit dinner and auction for 9-year-old Taylor Dudley will be held at St. Joseph School, 606 Sycamore St. in Scott City. She is the daughter of Norman and Amy Dudley of Scott City and was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoblastic lymphoma. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 Saturday. Taylor is receiving treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. All money raised will help her family with medical and travel expenses. Deadline for the not-for-profit 2007 East Prairie Sweetcorn pageants, open to area girls ages 13 to 21, is Saturday. No registration, entries or changes may be made on the day of the contest. The pageants will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 28 at the East Prairie High School auditorium. Eight categories in three age groups are available. Spectators will be charged admission. The 2007 Fulbright Family Association Reunion will be held June 29 to July 1 in Cape Girardeau. The Fulbright Family Association is a group of more than 200 descendants of 18th-century German immigrants Johann Wilhelm and Andreas Volbrecht. Descendants of both men settled early in Cape Girardeau County, and married into the Bollinger, Crites, Jaco, Link, Statler, Taylor and many other local families. Plans for the reunion include a reception June 29 at the Red House Interpretive Center, a tour of Fulbright-related sites in Cape Girardeau County, a picnic at Bollinger Mill State Park and a banquet at Port Cape in downtown Cape Girardeau.
