Trail of Tears to celebrate 50th anniversary

Trail of Tears State Park will feature exhibits and activities to celebrate its 50th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., interpretive exhibits and demonstrations will include the Trail of Tears, flintknapping, archaeology explorations, a fish maze and furs; a meeting with input from the public will be held at 2 p.m. at the Wescoat Shelter. There will be a spring folk concert at 7 p.m. For more information, call 334-1711.

Big Oak Tree State Park to hold snake program

Big Oak Tree State Park's first summer program, at 3 p.m. Saturday, will be led by Jeremy Soucy, education specialist from the Cape Girardeau Nature Center. The program will be held at the picnic shelter. The park is 14 miles south of East Prairie on Highway 102. Call (573) 649-3149 for more information.

First scholarship fund bazaar held at Eagles

Eagles Aerie 3775, 321 N. Spring Ave. in Cape Girardeau, will hold its first Scholarship Fund Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be crafts, yard sale items, baked goods, retail items and instant door prizes. Proceeds will fund the Eagles scholarship program to be awarded each year based on need and academics. Date has been changed for Glaus benefit

A super bunco, euchre and raffle benefit planned for liver recipient Laura Glaus is postponed until 1 p.m. Sunday at the St. Augustine gym in Kelso, Mo. Cape Senior Center to hold dance Friday

The Cape Senior Center, 921 N. Clark Ave., will hold a dance with music by Briron Music Productions from 7 to 10 a.m. Friday. The fund-raiser will benefit the center's building fund. Snacks and drinks will be available.

Truman Day barbecue to be held at Laborers' Hall

The Truman Day barbecue will be held at 6 p.m. June 9 at the Laborers' Hall, 773 Enterprise St. in Cape Girardeau. The featured speaker will be former congressman Bill Burlison. Wampler family reunion to be held June 10

The Wampler family reunion will be held at 9:30 a.m. June 10 at Cape County Park shelter No. 21.
