Pond management workshop to be Tuesday
A free pond management workshop that was canceled due to winter weather has been rescheduled. It will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Campus Nature Center. Fisheries Management biologist Chris Kennedy will answer common pond questions. Topics include pond site selection, construction, watershed management, pond ecology, fish stocking, harvest, aquatic vegetation control and fish parasites. Neighborhood meeting canceled for Easter
The Neighborhood Connections group has canceled its meeting Thursday due to the upcoming Easter holiday. The rescheduled meeting will be April 17.
Cancer benefit, auction to be held March 28

Benefit raffle planned for accident victim
There will be a raffle drawing April 1 for the benefit of Billie Henderson of Anna, Ill., a part-time employee who recently suffered serious injuries in a car accident. She does not have state health insurance benefits. Ticket purchases will help Henderson and her family with medical expenses and give attendees the chance to win $100. Wine festival to benefit counseling center
The 7th annual Community Wine Festival will be from 6 to 9 p.m. April 18 at Deerfield Lodge, 210 Deerfield Lane at County Road 313 in Cape Girardeau. Admission includes a keepsake wine glass, samples from up to 11 Missouri wineries, hors d'oeuvres, live music by Saxy Jazz, valet parking, hourly drawings, gifts and prizes. All proceeds benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation and will be used to provide improved facilities, equipment and services for persons with mental illness. CCC is a not-for-profit provider of mental health care serving Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, Perry and surrounding counties.
Trivia night to benefit Relay for Life team
A trivia night benefit will be from 6 to 10 p.m. May 2 at the VFW Hall, 1049 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. A social hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., with trivia from 7 to 10. The event will benefit the Cape Girardeau Police Department's Relay for Life Team. Snacks, refreshments and prizes will be included.
