The Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club will meet at 6:15 p.m. today at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau. Meeting begins at 7 p.m. Guest speakers will be members of the Southeast Missouri State University Young Republicans Club.
Cape Girardeau Post M of the Travelers Protective Association will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Friday. The schedule includes new officer elections and consideration of changes that should be made by the post by-laws. Chili, hot dogs and homemade dessert will be served at no cost to members or guests. A free contra dance will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Hall, 1049 N. Kingshighway. The event is sponsored by Cape Friends of Traditional Music and Dance. Music will be by the "Old Corn Lickers." No partner or experience is necessary; all dances are taught and walked through.

A Missouri Department of Education class for ages 11 and up will be held from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. March 24 at First Assembly of God Church Gym, 312 Dearborn St., Scott City. Live fire on a BB gun range and many "hands on" activities will be featured. Lunch can be purchased, with proceeds benefiting hunter education. The class will have on-site enrollment only.

Parents and caretakers nationwide may apply for grants of up to $5,000 for health care to improve their children's health and quality of life. The UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation is now offering support to meet the needs of children 16 years of age or younger with grants for medical services not fully covered by health insurance.
