IAAP group learning proper English usage
The International Association of Administrative Professionals monthly meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Drury Lodge.
The speaker for the February meeting, Dr. David Reinheimer, director of writing assessment and assistant professor of English at Southeast Missouri State University, will be speaking on proper English usage and grammar.
IAAP meetings are open to the public.
Parents Without Partners plans bowling

Riverside Regional Library holds storytime
Preschool storytime will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The theme is Black History Month. The storytime will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the publication "The Snowy Day," by Ezra Jack Keats.
Children invited to 'Celebrate Seuss'
Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodor Giesel, has been a well-loved children's author since he first published the book "To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street" in 1937. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, children ages 3 to 7 are invited to join the Cape Girardeau Public Library to celebrate the author who introduced us to the Grinch, Horton the Elephant and the Cat in the Hat. Make Oobleck, create a zany new character and share favorite Dr. Seuss stories and activities as the anniversary of the birth of one of America's favorite authors is honored.

Cape library provides tax counseling for elderly
Tax Counseling for the elderly (TCE) provides tax assistance to those age 60 and older from 1 to 4 p.m. on the following Mondays: March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31.
Show Me Day scheduled Saturday at Southeast

National Engineers Week celebrated today
A presentation by Andrew Meyer on the topic "Engineering as a Career Path, or "I've Always Wanted to Drive a Train," will take place as part of Southeast Missouri State University's celebration of National Engineers Week. The talk begins at 7 p.m. today, in Magill Hall, Room 120. The presentation is co-sponsored by the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics and the Cape Girardeau Area Engineers Club.
Communications service topic for Rotarians
On Thursday, Feb. 27, at noon Perryville Rotarians welcome Dave Heuman of CTS Communications. He will describe his experience in building a small communications service firm into what has become a major factor in designing, developing and installing communications systems for a wide range of business and other customers throughout Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. Interested parties are welcome to join the Rotarians.
Jackson Area Arts Council holds meeting

Emerson's mobile office hits the road today
U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.) says her mobile office will hit the road this month so that constituents can be in better contact with their federal representative. Emerson's staff forwards to her constituent concerns about particular issues or votes facing the 108th Congress, as well as initiates individual cases that people have with various federal agencies. The mobile office will be at St. James City Hall from 9 to 10 a.m. today; Potosi Library from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and the Perryville County Administration Building from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Bowl for Kids' Sake 2003 event planned
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri is preparing for the third annual Bowl for Kids' Sake. Businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to form a co-ed six person team and recruit individuals to sponsor them.
Bowlers will participate in two hours of bowling while enjoying free pizza and soda. Prizes will also be awarded. Registration is requested soon to guarantee a time and place to bowl. The event will be held at West Park Lanes and Jackson Bowling Lanes on March 29. For more information call 339-0184.
