Bootheel Boss Gobblers plan meetings in January

The Bootheel Boss Gobblers, a chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, will meet at least four times during the coming weeks in preparation for the group's annual banquet and art auction fund raiser to be held in February at the Bavarian Halle in Jackson.

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday in the Bluff City Beer conference room in Cape Girardeau. All other meetings, scheduled for Jan. 21, Jan. 28 and Feb. 4, will be held at the Missouri Department of Conservation regional headquarters in Cape Girardeau.

Bootheel Boss Gobblers will be distributing seed such as wheat, milo, sunflower and corn throughout the year again in 2003. Dates of distribution will be announced at local meetings.

Community Caring Conference scheduled

A Community Caring Conference called "Working with Latino Families in the 21st Century" is scheduled for Feb. 14.

Sponsored by the Community Caring Council and the New Vision Training Institute, this event will be held at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center, 1080 S. Silver Springs Road.

Registration costs $30 for professionals and community members, $25 for full-time students. All registration fees include lunch.

Luis Cordova with the National Mental Health Association Safe Schools Healthy Students Action Center will be the day's keynote speaker. A panel discussion will be held after lunch.

Graduation committees in need of volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the committees of Senior Graduation All-Night Party 2003 with the next meeting of this group set for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cape Central High School.

Committees that need assistance include: auction, casino, clean-up, chaperone, dance, decorations, food, games, tickets, hat check, publicity, Wheel of Fortune, and breathalyzer.
