Cape library presents look at birds of the world
The program "Weird and Wonderful Birds of the World" will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. County genealogical society meets Tuesday
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. Dr. Bill Eddleman will present the program "The North Carolina Origins of Some Southeast Missouri Families." The program will be a summary of locations, cemeteries and churches he visited last summer. Surnames included in the program will be Bess, Clodfelter, Eddleman, Fulbright, Hovis, Hoyle, Mauney, Rhyne, Rudisell and Sifford. For more information, call Dorothy Rowley at 243-5882.
Cape Christian School holding showcase
Prospective parents and students have the opportunity to view highlights from the Cape Christian School year from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The showcase includes shark and heart dissections, art projects, scenes from classic literature and opportunities to meet teachers, view curriculum and tour facilities. Cape Girardeau Easter egg hunt set for April 3
The 15th annual Easter egg hunt at Capaha Park will be held by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department on April 3. The event is free. The hunt for children up to age 4 will begin at 10 a.m.; the hunt for children ages 5 to 8 will begin at 11:15 a.m. Prizes for special eggs found during the hunt will be awarded immediately after the hunt. Alzheimer's Association sponsors program
The Alzheimer's Association will hold a program titled "Understanding Memory Loss" at 6 p.m. March 31 in the Hirsch Community Room at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
Eastern Star official inspections scheduled
Debbie Royce of Sarcoxie, Mo., worthy matron of the grand chapter of Missouri Order of the Eastern Star, and Steve Crotty, worthy grand patron, will make an official inspection of the chapter of the 50th district Thursday at the Sikeston Masonic Temple. The chapter of the 49th district will be inspected Friday at the Masonic Temple in Cape Girardeau. Pam Pensel, district deputy grand matron of the 50th district, and Kristi Nitsch, district deputy grand matron of the 49th district, are in charge of the arrangements for the inspections held in their districts.
Annual dinner auction to support Cape school
The sixth annual dinner auction supporting Trinity Lutheran School will be held Saturday at the Bavarian Halle. Doors will open and the silent auction will begin at 5 p.m.; dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.; oral auction at 8 p.m. For more information, call 334-1068.
