Zion United Methodist Church will hold its annual Memorial Day Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. May 26. In addition to the menu of chicken and dumplings, ham, slaw, green beans, corn, German potato salad, homemade bread amd desserts, the youth group will have hot dogs and hamburgers at a food stand. Crafts, plants, baked goods, jellies, jams, sodas and candy bars will also be available.

New Salem to hold fried chicken and ham dinner

The New Salem United Methodist Church of Daisy, Mo., will serve a fried chicken and ham dinner to the public beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. The menu includes fried chicken, ham, potato salad, green beans, corn, slaw, bread, cake and drinks. Children 5 and under eat free.

Benefit for Chaffee woman set for Friday

A benefit dinner and auction will be held for Melissa Essner Sullivan, 26, who is undergoing experimental treatment for cancer. She is the wife of Justin Sullivan of Chaffee, Mo., and the daughter of Paul W. and Geveva Essner of Benton, Mo. She and Justin are the parents of Ashley, 11, Austin 2, and Nathanael, 8 months.

The dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg, Mo. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread sticks, dessert and drink. An auction will follow the dinner.

Benefit to be held for Painton, Mo., woman

A benefit auction and dinner with live bluegrass music will be held Saturday at the Delta Community Center for Kathy Wagoner Roach. The dinner of chili or soup, dessert and drink will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. The all-you-can-eat meal is free for children 3 and under.

An auction of items from surrounding area businesses and individuals will begin at 7 p.m. Other donations can be made at First National Bank of Chaffee: Kathy Roach Fund c/o Gail Ballard.

Kathy, a 36-year-old mother of two, was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma cancer and had to have her left leg amputated below the knee.

She is the daughter of Cliff and Mary Wagoner of Painton; granddaughter of Ray Wagoner; and niece of Gail and Dan Ballard, all of Chaffee.
