Greyhound Pets of America, an adoption group that finds responsible loving homes for greyhounds that no longer qualify for the racetrack, will partner with the PETCO store at 266 Siemers Drive until Sunday in a fund raiser. Central class of 1950 to celebrate reunion

A class reunion for the Central High School class of 1950 will begin with a mixer at 6 p.m. Friday at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Class ladies will meet at 9:45 a.m. Saturday for brunch at the Marquette Tower followed by a dinner and dance at 6 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. The theme is "remember when." Community Caring Counsel meets Friday

A meeting of the Community Caring Counsel will be held at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the SADI Office, at 121 S. Broadview, Suite 12. Denise Lincoln from the Cape Area Family Resource Center will be the guest speaker. Refreshments are needed for September, October and November. The Big Spring School reunion will be held at noon Saturday at Jackson City Park pavilion No. 6.

Niswonger Church homecoming scheduled

The annual Niswonger Church homecoming will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday with a basket dinner. The church is on Highway 72 west of Millersville. In case of rain, the meeting will move to Millersville Baptist Church fellowship hall. For more information, call 243-4688.

League of Women Voters sets date for meeting

The League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri will hold its first unit meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Jeff Brune, executive director of Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority, will speak on public transportation. The public is welcome. The league is a nonpartisan political group that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
