River Heritage Quilt Guild meet at picnic today
The River Heritage Quilt Guild will hold a picnic at 6 p.m. today at Cape County Park South, pavilion 20. Soft drinks, paper plates and plastic cutlery will be provided. The annual Homecomers celebration, in uptown Jackson, will be held from Tuesday to Saturday. Along with talent shows, special entertainment and drawings each evening, The Jackson Area Arts Council will will display artists' work in storefront windows.
A Humane Society of Southeast Missouri mobile adoption will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Westfield West Park, Famous Barr court. Humane Society shirts will be for sale.
The relatives of Andrew and Canzada Moore will hold their annual family reunion Aug. 14 at South County Farm Park shelter 20. Attendees should bring a covered dish. For more information, call Ray Moore at 243-9055.
Two officers of the local chapter Allen Laws Oliver Sons of the American Revolution attended a state board meeting in Columbia, Mo., recently. Chapter president Wendell Miller and secretary Leon Lefler met with chapter officers statewide. Following the business portion of the meeting, Miller made a presentation of the local chapter's activities, including the living history program, which is presented the first Saturday of the month at the Red House Interpretive Center, parades, posting of the colors, the Presidents' Day Run, historical flag presentations and essay contests.
