AARP meeting features program on area arts

The Cape Girardeau County AARP chapter 4041 will meet today at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church on Broadway and Caruthers Avenue. The program will be "State of the Arts in Southeast Missouri," presented by Delilah Tayloe, director of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.

Riverside Regional Library holds programs

  • At 9:30 a.m. Aug. 23 "back to school" books will be read. Visit the library to hear stories about going back to school. The program is for ages 1 to 8.
  • At 4 p.m. Aug. 24 author Morley Swingle will speak about writing a mystery at the "Back to School Blast." The program is for ages 12 to 18.

Crown Hospice holds end-of-life service day

Crown Hospice will hold an End of Life Preparation/Community Service Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at 1353 Mount Auburn Road, Suite C, in Cape Girardeau. The goal of the event is to help alleviate fears patients and families about being prepared for a death in the family. Call 335-4800 to arrange an appointment to receive documents and have them notarized for free.

Multiple sclerosis program set for Aug. 18

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Gateway Area Chapter, will sponsor "Research on the Road," a program on new information about MS, presented by Dr. Robert Naismith of the John L. Trotter MS Center in St. Louis. The presentation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 18 at Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center, 1080 S. Silver Springs Road. There is a charge. Sheppard, Mason, Wilson reunion set for Saturday

Members of the Sheppard, Mason and Wilson families will get together Saturday for a family reunion in Cape County Park North from noon to 5 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.

Men's breakfast planned Aug. 18 in Scott City

The Scott City First Assembly of God is hosting a men's breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 18. Men of all ages are invited to come and fellowship with one another. Area men are invited to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.
