Parents Without Partners reunion set for Sept. 23
Members and former members of Parents Without Partners SEMO Chapter 519 are invited to a 35th reunion beginning with a 5:30 p.m. social hour Sept. 23 at the VFW hall in Cape Girardeau. Potluck dinner will follow from 6 to 7 p.m., introductions and friendship renewals from 7 to 8 p.m., dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. RSVP by Sept. 15 to capesemopwp@ yahoo.com, or 335-0797.
The Illini Arabian Horse Club will hold the first Arabian Community Show in Illinois Sept. 16 at Richland Equestrian Center in Belleville, Ill. Exhibitors not already members of AHA may join at the show and still accrue points. All exhibitors and spectators are invited. There are a limited number of stalls, so call (618) 654-5440 in advance of the show.
The Crump school reunion will be held beginning at noon Oct. 7 aty Bethlehem Baptist Church at Crump.
The annual Jacob and Marguarita Strunz Friedrich reunion was held recently at Delmonico's restaurant with 32 in attendance. Family members sang and were entertained with guitar music. The 80-year-old pomegranate quilt, belonging to Vernon Ludwig, was shown and shared with the group. Antique treasures of Oscar and Tillie Friedrich Ludwig were presented to their descendants. Delmonico's is also the location for next year's Aug. 19 reunion.
Abbie Cook, daughter of Debby and Allen Cook of Scott City, was recently crowned National American Miss Missouri Teen at Hyatt Regency Hotel in St. Louis. Cook won a $1,000 cash award and will receive transportation costs to the National Pageant in Anaheim, Calif., Nov. 21 to 27. She will also receive a day at Disneyland for two and a tour through the streets of Hollywood for two. Besides the title, crown, banner and trophy, Cook won $250 and a trophy in casual wear modeling. Her family sponsored her in the pageant. Cook is a cheerleader for Lindenwood University and was on the dean's list.
