SADI recruiting donations for yard sale
SADI will accept donations of small appliances, household items and wearable clothing for its annual yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Frida. The yard sale begins at 7 a.m. Sept. 5 at 1913 Rusmar Ave. in Cape Girardeau. Monetary donations can be mailed to that address. Catfish events funding Olmsted improvements
OLMSTED, Ill. — The village of Olmsted's catfish days festivities kick off from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 with a catfish dinner at the Olmsted Fire Department. The annual professional catfish fishing tournament begins at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 6. The tournament ends at 4 p.m. with a weigh-in and guaranteed purse of $1,500. An amateur fishing tournament will be held in downtown Olmsted from 5:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 20; from 7 to 10 a.m. the Olmsted Historical Society will prepare a pancake breakfast. A flea market and communitywide yard sale will be held throughout the day. At 11 a.m. a catfish dinner will be served by the recreational committee and city officials; at noon a parade will take place followed by live entertainment that will continue throughout the day. The festival includes food, shuttle rides to the Dam Project, inflatable amusements and children's games. The Olmsted Historical Society Train Depot will be open and the library will host a book sale. Proceeds will benefit recreational facilities at the James Burd Memorial Park in the village of Olmsted. Upcoming training for infant adoption
An infant adoption training initiative by Spaulding for Children will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and 19 at Lutheran Family and Children's Services, 3178 Blattner Drive in Cape Girardeau. Both training sessions provide lunch. The training will include a handbook, a referral and resource guide, four contact hours for nurses and four continuing education hours for social workers.
