Cape County Republican women meeting Friday
The Cape County Republican Women's monthly meeting is planned for Friday at the Grecian Steak House in Cape Girardeau. Two guest speakers are Roger Hudson, candidate for county treasurer, and Ed Frenzel, candidate for county coroner. First Presbyterian basement sale on tap
The annual Jackson First Presbyterian Church basement sale will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 206 E. Washington St., Jackson. Pastor Grant's tomato plants and geraniums will be featured. All size clothing and shoes, toys, puzzles, kitchen gadgets, bedding and a variety of miscellaneous items are on sale.
Hope For Families golf tournament starts Monday
Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri will host the Hope For Families Golf Tournament Monday at Dalhousie Golf Club, 302 Blackford Lane, Cape Girardeau. Lunch is at 11 a.m., with tee off at noon. Prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. For more information, call 334-5866.
Knights dinner, dance to benefit relay for life
A barbecue pork steak dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by a dance from 8 to 11 p.m. at Leopold Knights of Columbus Hall. Dinner includes potato salad, baked beans, cole-slaw and desserts. Dance music provided by Daryl Hobbs Sound System. Proceeds benefit American Cancer Society.
Yard sale proceeds help American Cancer Society
The DDS Relay for Life team will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the parking lot of Automation Services Co. Inc., 2751 Thomas St. Kitchen items, exercise equipment, and a bed will be sold to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Cape Farmer's Market open for summer season
The Cape Farmer's Market will open at 2:30 p.m. today and continue until vendors are sold out. It will be held every Thursday between May and October at the Plaza Galleria parking lot, 2001 Independence Ave. Items offered for sale have been grown or produced within a 75-mile radius of Cape Girardeau.
