Parks and Recreation holds egg hunt in Cape

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold its 18th annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at the parking lot near Capaha Ball Field in Capaha Park, rain or shine. Three different egg hunts are scheduled. The 1- to 2-year-olds and 3- to 4-year-olds will start at 10 a.m. and 5- to 8-year-olds at 10:45 a.m. The event is free. Parents must provide their children with their own baskets and should escort smaller children if needed. For more information, call 335-5421. The hunt's sponsors include A Small World Preschool, Aaron's Sales & Leasing and Hobby Lobby.

Candidates forum heldat Perry Park Center

A candidate forum will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Park Center Auditorium in Perryville, Mo. See and hear the candidates in contested city races plus District 32 school board, hospital board, District 32 bond issue and county tax for law enforcement. Candidates will answer questions. Teen Challenge presents annual spring banquet

Kelly High School presents spring play

The Kelly High School Drama Club will present its annual spring play, "The Bachelor King," at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the gymnasium. The play, directed by Valerie Eubanks, is suitable for all ages. Call Eubanks at (573) 545-3541 from 1 to 2 p.m. or after 3 p.m.

Charleston merchants sponsor pageants

The Charleston Merchants Group is sponsoring the 2007 Dogwood-Azalea Beauty Pageants at 6:30 p.m. April 16 at the Clara Drinkwater Newman Auditorium in Charleston, Mo. The contest is open to residents of all communities. Girls age divisions include 3 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years. There will be eight additional special events offered at an additional cost. Contestants must be registered by April 2 and should submit two nonreturnable photos with their entry form. Program offered on two Missouri politicians

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. David Briggs, a history instructor at Southeast Missouri State University, will present the program for the evening. He will be speaking on Champ Clark, a Democratic U.S. congressman from Missouri, 1893 to 1895 and 1897 to 1921, and his son, Bennett Champ Clark, a Democratic U.S. senator also from Missouri, 1933 to 1945. The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. For more information, call Bill Eddleman at 335-1507.
