Notre Dame FCCLA sponsors seniors' dance

The Notre Dame FCCLA will sponsor a dance from 2 to 4 p.m. today for area senior citizens featuring the sounds of the Jerry Ford Orchestra in the school cafeteria. Snacks and drinks will be provided for this free event.

Neighborhood Connections won't meet

Neighborhood Connections, a group that engages neighbors in creating a safe and healthy community, will not hold its February meeting scheduled for tonight. An announcement of the March meeting date will be made soon.

Money raised at pageant to go to St. Jude

Bernie, Mo. -- A pageant to be held at 2 p.m. March 2 at the Bernie Community Center will donate all proceeds to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The money will be presented at the St. Jude's Kids Radiothon March 6 and 7. Doors open and registration begins at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is discounted; sibling discounts will be given. Doctor/lawyer basketball game set for March 8

The Community Counseling Center Foundation will hold its 15th annual basketball showdown between doctors and lawyers at 5 p.m. March 8 at the Central High School gym in Cape Girardeau. Proceeds will be used to fulfill the needs of those with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Discounted tickets are available for children younger than 12. A postgame party with a silent auction will immediately follow at Marquette Terrace, 338 Broadway. Purchase tickets at any Community Counseling Center location, Cape County Medical Society, Capaha Banks and US Banks in Cape Girardeau and Jackson, or at the door. Outstanding volunteer nominations due March 7

The United Way of Southeast Missouri and the Volunteer Intergenerational Center are accepting nominations for the 21st annual volunteer awards luncheon to distinguish and honor exceptional volunteers in Southeast Missouri. Categories include youth/young adult, adult, senior adult and group/organization/program. Multiple nominations are accepted by individuals, agencies or organizations.
