Scott City seeks donations for toybox

The Scott City High School Student Council is coordinating fund-raising efforts for this year's toybox project for Scott City children. Community members can help by dropping donations off at the Scott City High School office during the day until Dec. 14. The goal this year is $1,500. Donation cans are in place at area businesses and school clubs including FBLA, FCCLA, FTA and the Middle School Student Council are conducting fund-raising projects as well.

Seminar, grief support group to meet Mondays

GriefShare, a Christian-based recovery seminar and support group for those who have lost a loved one in death, meets at 7 p.m. Mondays starting today through March 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 223 W. Adams St., Jackson, room 202. Small-group sharing follows a video. There is a workbook fee. Call 243-2236 for more information.

Cape AARP holding holiday meeting today

The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP 4041 will meet at 1:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church at Broadway and Caruthers Street. A Christmas celebration will be held. Gifts for children at Blanchard and Jefferson schools will be collected, and the installation of 2005 officers will be held. Individuals planning to attend should bring a holiday finger food.

Central plans season of holiday concerts

The Central Music Department, featuring the Central band, Central choirs and Central orchestra, will present a holiday concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Junior High auditiorium. At 7 p.m. Thursday, the Central Junior High instrumental music department will present a holiday season concert in the Central Junior High Field House (new gym) featuring the seventh-grade band and orchestra and the eighth-grade band and orchestra.
