Fair association elects board members

At the Southeast Missouri District Fair Association annual meeting, Gary Kight of Advance, Marilyn Schott of Jackson and Wes Campbell of Cape Girardeau were elected to the board of directors. Chris Weiss of Jackson was appointed to the board by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. Bob Blattel and Dave White, both of Chaffee, Mo., were re-appointed by the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. The "Volunteer of the Year" award was presented to Ray Feuerhahn of Cape Girardeau. "Fair Family of the Year" was awarded to the Bob Blattel and Herb Blattel Jr. families, both of Chaffee. The board of directors met to elect 2007 officers: president Gary Kight of Advance, vice president James K. Sander of Jackson, secretary Marilyn Schott of Jackson, treasurer Chris Weiss of Jackson and property custodian Dave White of Chaffee.

Public hearing planned on AmerenUE rates

JEFFERSON CITY -- The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at Glenn Auditorium, Dempster Hall, Southeast Missouri State University to receive customer comments on natural gas and electric rates filed by AmerenUE. This local public hearing will give customers an opportunity to bring any service-related problems to the commission's attention. AmerenUE filed an electric rate and natural gas rate case on July 10 with the Public Service Commission to increase revenue. For more information, call (800) 392-4211.
