Pioneer Orchard donates money to Shrine Club
Scott Beggs with Pioneer Apple Orchard and Pick-Ur-Own recently presented a $340 check to Dale Schreiner, president of the Cape Shrine Club.
The money came from registrations for the Little King and Queen contests held at Pioneer's Pick-Ur-Own in October and will go to the Shriners Hospital.
Cape post office to collect Santa letters
The Cape Girardeau Post Office will be collecting Santa letters during the Parade of Lights to be held at 5 p.m. this Sunday on Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Postal personnel will walk along with the post office float gathering letters throughout the course of the parade, which begins at West End Boulevard and ends at Main Street.
Cape County AARP to meet Monday
The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP, #4041, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church on the corner of Broadway and Caruthers. Everyone is asked to bring some finger food for Christmas party.

Commerce churches hold holiday service
COMMERCE, Mo. -- The Baptist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church, both of Commerce, recently held a joint Thanksgiving service at which $125 was raised for the Scott City Food Pantry.-- From staff reports
