Cape Co. AARP to meet, elect officers Monday
At 1:30 p.m. Monday, the Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP will meet at Grace United Methodist Church, located on Broadway and Caruthers. Events include an election of officers and Christmas party with refreshments and entertainment.
Applications available for Christmas baskets
Applications for Salvation Army Christmas baskets will continue through Dec. 5. Apply from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope, Cape Girardeau. Necessary for Christmas basket applications and consideration for Toy Box items are a picture identification card for applicant, social security cards for other individuals in the household and proof of address. Glenn House now open for Christmas tours
The Historical Association of Greater Cape Girardeau invites everyone to visit the Glenn House as a holiday tradition. Student volunteers from Southeast Missouri State University Historic Preservation program have created a festive delight of the Glenn House. House tours are available from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, 13 and 14, 20 and 21, and 27 and 28. Free admission tours are offered from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday before the Downtown Merchants Parade.
Missouri Retired Teachers holding holiday luncheon
The last meeting for this year begins at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chateau Girardeau. The Men of Westminster will entertain; the annual Christmas luncheon will follow the business meeting. Retired educators interested in attending the luncheon please call Gene Loftis at 334-5390 for more information.
