League of Women Voters to meet Tuesday

Genealogical society to meet at Red House

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Red House Interpretive Center, 128 S. Main St., across from the old St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau. The program will be a tour of the Red House. The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. On Thursday, the 19th annual Home for the Holidays project will transport Stoddard County nursing home patients by ambulance to residences within the county, where they may stay a few hours or even overnight before being returned to the appropriate nursing home. The service is free. Contact the nursing home to make arrangements, not the ambulance office.

Raising money for underprivileged children

Huck's store associates are raising money to buy Christmas presents for underprivileged children and are asking the community to participate. A $1 donation will entitle customers to a personalized paper Christmas tree displayed at the store. Huck's stores will spend 100 percent of all funds raised on children in their community.

Magnolia Manor in Cairo open to tours Dec. 5

'Winter Wonderland of Treasures' sale slated

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 4, the fifth annual "Winter Wonderland of Treasures," sponsored by the St. Denis Home and School Association, will be held at the St. Denis Parish Center on Highway 61 in Benton, Mo. Individuals, businesses, churches and organizations are welcome to sell or promote their merchandise. For registration forms, send a SASE to: "Treasures" Sale, P. O. Box 503, Benton, Mo. 63736, or pick them up at the school office. Concessions, a raffle, 50/50 and attendance drawings will also be held throughout the day. Admission is free, and proceeds will help support St. Denis School.
