MADD kicking off holiday campaign today
The Cape Girardeau chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will kick off its annual Red Ribbon Campaign for the holidays at 1:30 p.m. today at First Missouri State Bank, 2 S. Mount Auburn Road, Cape Girardeau. Red ribbons will be distributed through the drive-up facility. To participate, call MADD at 335-7908.
Administrators group meets on Tuesday
The monthly meeting of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Drury Inn. Masquerade held for dental patients
In honor of National Orthodontic Health Month in October, Drs. Edwin Noffel and David Feuerhahn and staff in Cape Girardeau held a masquerade skating party for their patients and friends. About 500 attended, and 50 prizes were awarded.
Jackson arts group meets Thursday

East Missouri Action Agency receives funds
The East Missouri Action Agency received $379,500 in funds from the state to provide heating assistance to low income families during the winter. Distribution of funds begins today through the Energy Crisis Intervention Program. For this year only the disconnect notice for individuals 65 and older has been waived.

Vision 2020 Riverfront Team cancels meetings
The Vision 2020 Riverfront Team will not meet in November or December. The next meeting will be in January.
Delta Chi members help with diabetes walk
Southeast Missouri State University's fraternal organization Delta Chi raised $1,250 in "America's Walk for Diabetes" on Oct. 11, placing the fraternity among the top fund-raising teams that day. Area manager Michelle Bradshaw of the American Diabetes Association said Delta Chi members were motivated to participate by a fraternity brother with diabetes.
Holocaust survivor to visit Southeast campus
Holocaust survivor Marylou Ruhe will share her experiences with students and the public from noon to 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in Dempster Auditorium, Crisp Hall.

The Community Caring Council will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 804 N. Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau. The speaker is Natika Rowles, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club in Cape Girardeau.
Scott Co. history group meeting Tuesday
The Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Regional Library in Benton. The guest speaker is Lillian Harmon of Scott City. Her presentation is on the difficulties of starting a business at the end of World War II. The meeting is open to the public.
Septic system meeting scheduled for Thursday
Cape Girardeau County public health officials will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center, 1121 Linden St. in Cape Girardeau. The meeting, open to all installers, will explain the county's new regulations governing installation of septic systems.
State-registered installers can obtain their county licenses at the meeting. Copies of the new county ordinance and copies of the Missouri Department of Health "green book" of state regulations, will be distributed.
The county's new ordinance takes effect on Dec. 1.
